who is she?
Hiyaaah! I’m Daisy, I started illustrating in 2020 (as Daisy Draws xo, then Dizzy Lou Illustration and now just as myself, well done me for seeing off the imposter syndrome) just after I finished my degree. I graduated from The University of Central Lancashire with a First Class Honours Degree in Psychology as a mature student, and after many years in neurodivergent academic hell, I was craving a creative outlet, and thus my little biz was born.
I’m originally from Manchester, the true capital (IYKYK) and I still live in the North West with my cat, Barbara. My illustration journey has been entirely self taught, using my ipad. I work predominantly in a digital medium, sometimes hand sketching then completing in Procreate.
why does she do it?
As much as I wanted to take a break from studying, I also wanted to use what I had learned to create artwork that promoted inclusivity and awareness, giving a visual platform to often taboo subjects such as self love, barriers to health care and domestic abuse.
I love using dry ink and gouache textures with Fox’s PartyRing biscuits colours to create characters, think messy 90s kid with a Care Bear problem, and thats my style. I want to continue to grow my baby biz, creating more prints, adding stationary to my store and putting together classes to help others explore their creative side.
“I wanted to make a difference,
and i decided I was going
to use art to do it”
Faith Ringgold, 2019
